3. How do I pay my traffic ticket?
Call the Municipal Court and let them know the statute / ordience you are being charged with. Court administrator will let you know if its a payable offense or if a court appearance is required.

If you are pleading not guilty, call the court and arrange your name to be put on the docket for a court appearance.

4. How do I obtain a parking permit?
Parking permits can be obtained from Police Headquarters. Costs: $30 per month. Permits are availble in 3, 6 or 12 months. Make check or money order out to: 'City of South Amboy'. Cash and credit cards are not accepted.

5. How do I get to police headquarters?
We are located at 140 N. Broadway. Click Here. You can follow one of our pre-written directions or click on the link for Mapquest, then scroll to the bottom and enter YOUR address for directions to us.


INVESTIGATION


1. May I have my fingerprints taken at police headquarters?
Yes. Fingerprinting is available by appointment by calling our Detective Bureau at: 732-525-5951. We normally try to schedule fingerprinting on Wednesday nights, when possible. Please be sure to leave your name, address and contact phone number and someone will return your call.

2. How do I apply for a Firearms Identification Card or a Permit to Purchase?
Firearms Identification Cards and Permits to Purchase are available by appointment by calling our Detective Bureau at: 732-525-5951. Please be sure to leave your name, address and contact phone number and someone will return your call. Applications are also available on the State Police website. Please be sure to complete all information. Missing information will cause a delay in processing your application.
Other Non-Police Issues


1. Who do I contact during a power outage?
During a power failure, the police can be extremely busy directing traffic and assisting those in need of emergency assistance. Therefore we ask you please contact your local power company for assistance (their number can be located on your electric bill), instead of the police.
If you rely on your power for medical reasons, and need assistance, please call South Amboy Police at: 732-721-0111.


2. Is the school open / delayed opening?
You are advised to listen to the following radio stations for up to date information:

3. When is garbage and Recycling picked up?
Garbage pick-up is handled by Public Works. They can be reached at: (732) 721-5957.

4. When am I scheduled to appear in court?
You must contact the Municipal Court Monday through Friday at (732) 525-5929 x231.

5. Who do I contact to report a stray animal?
You should contact animal control at: 732-721-5861 between 8am-4pm. If you need assistance outside of those hours, please contact South Amboy Police at: 732-721-0111.

6. Where do I go to vote?
All voting questions should be directed towards the City Clerk, which may be reached at: 732-525-5920. If you need to register to vote, you may either visit the City Clerks Office or see our Forms page.

7. How do I find information on the ferry schedule?
For ferry information please visit the Seastreak website. You may also obtain a schedule from the dock.

8. How do I find information on the train schedule?
For NJ Coast Line train information please visit NJ Transit. You may also obtain train schedule information at the train station on Broadway.

9. How do I find information on the bus schedule?
For bus information please visit NJ Transit. You may also pickup a bus schedule on the bus, which picks up on Broadway and John st.
